Unexpected Seasons

I know it has been quite some time since my last entry.  It is a vice of mine that I hate doing.  I make a plan to be more consistent in reading, running or writing, and then here I am months later making an entry.  (smh).

I’m sure we’ve all been there.  We decide to make a commitment to ourselves and then you get sick, there is a family emergency or something unexpected happens and throws a monkey-wrench into this little routine you got yourself in.  Well, as you can see, I’m right there with you!  Now, I’m in this faze of, “Ok, your shaking off this cold, you need to get at it again.  Make yourself a routine Phoebe!”empathy-3

Now all this to share with you something that you already know.  Life is unexpected!  There are good times, sad times, time for war, time for peace.  I feel like I’m reading a passage from Ecclesiastes 3:1-11. However, this passage is so true!  This morning I read 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, and it was like I saw it for the first time.  There are many things that can happen to you to me or our friends and family that impact us in both positive and negative ways.  Many times, people say, how could this happen or why?  We can try our best to rationalize the ugliness of this world, however, I strongly believe in Romans 8:28, that “God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love [Him]….

Think about it, when we experience pain or sorrow there is some growth happening deep within us.  When my parents divorced, there was pain and sorrow I worked through.  It did not happen overnight and the process has changed once my parents re-married, however, I do know what it feels like to be a child of a broken marriage.  I remember the pain and heartbreak I felt.  However, when I later befriended someone in college who experienced a similar situation,  I was truly able to empathize with her.  I understood to a degree what she was feeling and I do hope that I provided the best comfort I could give her given my experience with the situation.  It is that, which 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 is talking about!  That’s when I realized that the different seasons of life, even when they are hard, we are going through them for a purpose.  Maybe it’s to make us stronger.  Maybe it’s to be that someone for someone else when they are going through that similar situation?

So whoever you are, whatever your situation, know that you are NOT alone.  Whether you believe it or not God is right there with you, even when you feel all alone.  Know that someone out there in this big world has been where you’ve been.  Maybe it wont be an identical situation, however, it may be closely similar, and they know exactly what you are going through.  Know that you are loved and tomorrow will be a brand new day.
